A pair of psychics have failed a test designed to test their psychic abilities. Researchers at Goldsmiths, University of London carried out the test in which two mediums attempted to identify something about five volunteers they had not seen. The Merseyside Skeptics Society organised the test.
The results show no evidence of psychic ability. Chris French, head of the Anomalistic Psychology Research Unit at Goldsmiths who headed up the test, said the results were “entirely consistent with the operation of chance alone.”
Patricia Putt, who was one of the mediums, rejected the results saying the test conditions did not allow her a face to face connection or even an audio connection to the volunteers. Ms. Putt said the test was designed to confirm the researchers preconceptions rather than test her psychic ability.
The Merseyside Skeptics Society urged people thinking of visiting a medium to think twice and consider if their money might be better spent elsewhere.
