NASA has been forced to deny there was a long lost civilisation on Mars, clarifying that they had no evidence of a race living there. At a space subcommittee of the House Science Committee, officials from the space agency were questioned by California Republican Dana Rohrabacher who queried if the agency knew of anything of a race living there a couple of thousand years ago.
Mr. Rohrabracher pointed out that it was a fact that the atmosphere of the Red Planet was vastly different in the past and so could have supported life (watch video at end of article).
“You have indicated that Mars was totally different thousands of years ago,” he said. “Is it possible that there was a civilization on Mars thousands of years ago?”
NASA, represented by Kenneth Farley (scientist working on the current Rover 2020 mission and also a professor of geochemistry at California Institute of Technology) and others, replied that the atmosphere on Mars was different “billions of years ago, not thousands of years ago,” before adding that there was “no evidence that I’m aware of” that there is a Mars civilisation.

Mr Rohrabacher continued the question with “Would you rule that out? See, there’s some people… Well, anyway.”
Dr. Farley replied that the scenario was “extremely unlikely”.
