After the dramatic and bloody imagery of the Ten of Swords, the page of swords is the fresh start that we have been waiting for. The Ten of Swords foretold of tough times that we had little option but to see through. The Page of Swords is almost telling us that that time has passed and we should get going and fast.

The page stands tall with his sword drawn and upright. It is a call to action. Almost as if the young page is ready to strike with the sword to get going. Swords are related to our mental processes so this Tarot card indicates our thoughts should turn towards ploughing ahead towards our goals.

It is interesting to note the manner in which the page turns his head. There is an element of looking towards the past, the ten birds almost hinting that the page is looking back towards the ten of swords. However the drawn sword suggests that it is time we moved beyond that past and that we do not let it trouble us now. It is time to look to the future and put the past to sleep.

That his hair is windswept suggests the Page is not standing still. That he is in action, looking around his position, swiveling his head to see in all directions, ready to strike in any direction. We need to take full stock of where we are, protect our position and make a list of any threats to our position. The card suggests that we have come a long way, but now is the time to be on our guard. Not passively waiting, but actively protecting our position by having the foresight to envision any forthcoming dangers and being ready to do battle.

His face is one of determination. He knows what he has been through. He has been bloodied and in a dark place in the Ten of Swords but yet, here he stands now, on top of the hill, ready to fight again.

Our progress is hindered because we have not come to accept the past or made peace with it. Our progress could be half hearted because of something in our past and we need to resolve that. Maybe we are paranoid, we remember the past and expect it to happen all over again. Instead of enjoying our present position, we are beset with thinking there are dangers everywhere.

The Page of Swords reversed may also be telling us that our visions and ideas are in danger of being destroyed. We might be listening to the wrong people, allowing them to drag us down, to dampen our goals and ambitions. We need to defend our goals, we need to defend what could be.
